Getting away from the house seems to always take more time than expected and we didn't leave until about 10 AM. We fueled up at the Costco near I-77 and trucked on up. Charlotte traffic was busy as usual, but it did move. I-81 in Virginia was another story. Besides some construction, a trucker must have dozed and tried to take out an overpass abutment. Both the truck and the trailer fared very badly. Miles and miles of backed-up traffic. Anyway, we missed getting to our destination campground by about an hour after they closed. We did phone ahead and found out that we could "boondock" free across the road from their gate. Other than the noise from I-81, it's OK and the price is right.
So, first night is Greencastle, PA, barely across the MD/PA border and on the Mason-Dixon line.
Odometer is 64541.
Firing up our Verizon traveling Wi-Fi hotspot, we found out that our campground reservation for a few days at Pippy Park in St. John's, NL have come through. That and the ferry reservation made yesterday for a voyage from North Sydney, NS to Port aux Basques, NL on August 7 pins a few things down. Given that we couldn't get an earlier daylight departure time for a ferry, we'll have to do a bit of meandering in Nova Scotia.
