In the morning, we visited the Johnson Geo Centre at the lower end of Signal Hill Road. It is a fine museum for Geology. They do a great job explaining the formation of rocks as well as plate tectonics and the changing shape of the contingents.
The museum exhibit area is actually below ground level up against a Signal Hill rock face. The rock here is over 500 million years old. Some of the rocks in Northern Labrador are among the oldest rocks on earth. Newfoundland and Labrador are one province.
It was interesting to find out the Appalachian chain of geologic features extend all the way up to the Eastern part of NL.
The museum also has a section on the Titanic disaster.
